[Japanese Anglers' Voice] O.S.P DoLive Craw [Review]

O.S.P is a popular Japanese fishing brand led by a famous pro, Toshinari Namiki (並木敏成) a.k.a T.Namiki.

Toshinari Namiki is the first Japanese Bass Pro who qualified for Bass Master Classic in 1997. He used to work for Daiwa and now he's producing Daiwa's top bass brand line, the Steez series.

He's also famous for his amazing casting technique that's called "Machinegun Cast". His Machinegun Cast technique is insane. The casts made by his left hand are magic. If you have never checked out his casting technique, you should check it out now!

In June 2000, he came back from the U.S. Bass tournament tour and founded his lure brand, O.S.P. Since then, based in Hachioji, in the western portion of Tokyo Metropolis, O.S.P. has been producing so many great lures that are based on their concept "10 Years Standard". The products can be standard even after 10 years from the launch.

O.S.P DoLive Craw is their first soft bait produced in 2008. The lure was produced by another famous Japanese Bass angler, Kotaro Kawamura (川村光大郎). who used to work for O.S.P lures.

Since then, over 10 years, this lure was one of the top-selling craw-type baits in Japan. The standard.

My memorial fish on O.S.P JIG ZERO ONE and DoLive Craw 4".

The concept is "All the parts have meanings. All the parts have souls. All the parts live!". The claws, legs, and antennas. Every moment, each part self-actions attracting fish. When falling, standing on the bottom, being dragged slowly on the bottom... No blind spots for this lure. Bites can be coming anytime.

Waki's recommendation.

Texas rig, Jika rig, and Free rig

The standard option for this lure would be a Texas rig. Of course, we can also utilize this lure for Jika-rig and Free rig.

With a Texas rig, this lure can cover almost all methods. Flipping this to the cover edge. The fluttering claws during falling would make fish go crazy.  When we slowly drag the lure on the bottom, with the perfect balance of claws, legs, and body, it would just look like a yummy crustacean. The chubby craw would also greatly work for the swimming action like we do for curly-tail and shad-tail.

It's like a versatile rig meets a versatile lure!

Jig trailer:

I love using DoLive Craw for a rubber jig trailer.  This lure is perfect fitting to any type of Rubber Jig. My memorial fish (close to 9 pounders. My first 60cm over BIG BASS) was caught on O.S.P JIG ZERO ONE and DoLive Craw 4". When I fish a rubber jig, DoLive Craw is still my primary choice.

Drop shot rig:

This lure has a 2-inch small model. That model would be working great for a finesse drop shot rig. A split shot rig also could be a good option for it.

Carolina rig:

Yes. This bait is also working just fine for the Carolina rig. Some of the craw baits are specialized for the falling action. Such baits can not make a great presentation when we use them for a C-rig. But DoLive craw can address any type of action. Carolina rig is also one of the great options for this.

The voices from Japanese anglers.

  • 👍 My best craw bait!
  • 👍 DoLive Craw always brings fish.
  • 👍 The best Texas rig bait.
  • 👍 With that claw action, I got many bites during falling.
  • 👍 Light texas rig is my go-to rig for this lure.
  • 👍 I love fishing a cover using a rubber jig and DoLive Craw.
  • 👍 Not just Largemouth. This also works for Rockfish.
  • 👍 The fluttering action of claws and legs are just amazing.
  • I love it but it's pricey...
  • Great baits but a bit fragile. One fish, I lost some parts...
  • Bluegill loves the tentacles. It's annoying.
Go! DoLive Craw!

 Thank you!
 Angler Waki.
